Police arrested a man at a train station in Sydney's west who was allegedly waiting for a 14-year-old boy he believed he was meeting for sex.
The 56-year-old man believed he was speaking online with a teenage boy and engaged in sexually-explicit conversations with the child and made arrangements to meet for sex, police say.
The man was arrested by officers from the Sex Crimes Squad and Ashfield Local Area Command at Parramatta train station at about 5pm on Thursday.
He was led away to Parramatta police station, where he was charged with online child exploitation offences.
Officers from the Sex Crime Squad's Child Exploitation Internet Unit began engaging with the man following a referral from Ashfield Local Area Command earlier this month.
He has been refused bail and is set to appear in court on Friday.
