An armed gang battered a man with a baseball bat, a crowbar and a screwdriver during a vicious attack in a convenience store.
Shocking footage shows the 23-year-old victim cowering as the three men and a woman brutally attack him in the shop in Colchester, Essex.
A witness said there was 'blood everywhere' after the brawl and compared the incident to a scene from an action film.
Shop owner Tahir Onuk, 40, said the man had sprinted into Harris Way Express newsagents to hide from his attackers.
He recalled: 'He ran into the shop scared and I said what happened and scared he said ''Don't ask me, I'm not here''.
'They pushed me and started fighting each other, I called the police and said 'There's people killing each other'.
'As soon as I called the police they all went away, and they started fighting behind a school.
'It was like something from a film, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
'There was blood everywhere.'
In Mr Onuk's CCTV footage shows the man brutally battered at the end of shelves as the brawl spills into a chiller and bursts into a backroom.
He then then tries to fight off the thugs as they rain blows down on him, but is left bloodied and dazed.
Mr Onuk explained that the victim fled the store before emergency services arrived.
He was later found unconscious in a nearby alley, before being taken to Colchester Hospital.
It is thought the suspects sped off in a black Vauxhall Astra and a silver Ford Focus.
A resident, who asked not to be named, said: 'It is awful, this is supposed to be a lovely estate.
'There was blood everywhere, all over the shop floor, the victim had his eyes busted and his face where they repeatedly hit him.
'I saw the man badly beaten on a stretcher.'
A spokesman for Essex Police said: 'Police received a number of reports of an assault and criminal damage by a large group of men in John Hammond Close, Colchester shortly after 8.15pm.
'The men were believed to have been using baseball bats and hammers and a number of cars have been damaged.
'A 23-year-old man was found unconscious in Berechurch Road and was taken to Colchester Hospital.'
