One of the nation’s most prolific Black Lives Matter advocates has announced he will boycott the National Football League.
Shaun King, a columnist with the New York Daily News, recently wrote that the final straw came when the Seattle Seahawks signed quarterback Austin Davis, who is white, instead of biracial Colin Kaepernick, who used the 2016 NFL season to protest racism by refusing to stand for the National Anthem before games.
On top of that, King was irked that Hank Williams Jr., whom he called “basically Donald Trump with a guitar” and “a bigot,” was brought back to introduce Monday Night football.
King said those two factors have convinced him that even though he is a self-described sports junkie, it is time to boycott the NFL on the grounds of race.
