The Russian Ministry of Defence released footage on Sunday showing its Kalibr cruise missiles hitting Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) targets in Syria's Hama region. The bombardment took place on Friday, as Russia's Krasnodar submarine and naval vessels Admiral Essen and Admiral Grigorovich launched missiles at the targets from the Eastern Mediterranean.
According to the Defence Ministry, the missiles destroyed IS command and control centres, as well as ammunition depots close to the town of Aqerbat.
Turkey as well as Israel was reportedly informed about the attacks using military communication channels.
