CNN's Wolf Blitzer is actually mad this reporter doesn't have better leakers in the White House

An embarrassing moment occurred on CNN Friday when longtime political host Wolf Blitzer had to remind CNN chief political analyst Gloria Borger to stop relying on unreliable sources in her reporting on what’s happening inside the White House.



Following President Trump’s announcement that chief of staff Reince Priebus is being pushed out in favor of former General John Kelly (rumors of Priebus’ demise had been running rampant for several weeks, especially after former RNC colleague Sean Spicer left), the current head of Homeland Security, Borger relayed to Blitzer that some of her sources denied until the end that Priebus was on his way out.



Which led Blitzer to remind her — on the air — that if her sources are that bad then she may want to trade them in for better sources, questioning her journalistic professionalism and standards that had to be upsetting to Borger, a veteran commentator on DC politics for decades.



“I think in a way the Reince Priebus departure is not a surprise. Although, we did get pushback on it today,” Borger explained to the CNN panel. “But we had heard….”



“When you say pushback, a lot of our viewers don’t understand that,” Blitzer cut in. “Are these people simply out of the loop, they don’t know what they’re talking about, or are they lying?” he asked Borger, assuming that Borger would rely on sources who are liars, causing Borger to look somewhat shocked and confused.


“Uh…it could be a little bit of both, and it could also be that the person involved didn’t know at that point,” she replied. “I mean, you know, Wolf, it’s hard to know. All I know is, you’re only as good as your sources, and you have a source that tells you that Reince Priebus will be gone, and then you have a good source that tells you that’s not the case,” she tried to explain.



“Well, clearly the sources that were pushing you away are not good sources, so you’ve got to be careful with those sources down the road,” Blitzer said, as Borger chuckled nervously. “Either they don’t know what they’re talking about, or they’re lying, so those sources…[crosstalk]. That’s my experience as a reporter,” Blitzer informed her.



Last month, CNN was forced to apologize after retracting a fake news story which claimed a Russian bank with supposed ties to President Trump was under Senate investigation. Three high-ranking CNN propagandists were fired over the shameful reporting, which of course was based on “anonymous sources.”



Also, in June, CNN’s overzealousness to damage President Donald Trump was illustrated when they embarrassingly forced to issue a correction after they predicted — again based on “sources” — that former FBI Director James Comey would contradict President Trump’s account of their conversation during his Senate testimony. CNN reported that Comey would refute his telling the President that Trump was not under FBI investigation. They were wrong.
