Terrifying images and video showed smoke billowing over the city during the early hours of this morning.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have 12 appliances and three aerial apparatus on the scene in the north east of the city.
One witness, living two miles away from the iconic warehouse, told Glasgow Live they heard two loud explosions shortly after 5am, although the fire was initially reported at 3.45am.
There are now speed restrictions in place on the M8 motorway due to poor visibility from the smoke.
Officers have also closed roads due to the fire, with diversions in place.
Taking to Twitter, several people left well-wishes for those potentially involved in the fire, with one writing: "Hope no one was hurt in the fruit market fire.
