FROM MAIL ONLINE - This is the heart-stopping moment a daredevil trying to break the UK land speed record crashed his jet-powered dragster at 250mph - and survived with only bruises.
David Tremayne, 64, hurtled up to the death-defying speeds in a bid to be break the 301mph record - the same attempt which hospitalised Richard Hammond in 2006.
But the record remains intact as motoring journalist David crashed his Duo Stay Gold jetcar as it rolled down the track sideways after he peaked at 296mph.
Video footage of the moment the car veered out of control at Elvington airfield, near York, on Saturday, was captured all on a tiny cockpit camera.
