A motorcycle driver died after a lamp post, which was hit by a container van, fell on him at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, at U.N. Avenue in Mandaue City, Cebu. It took three hours before the container truck was removed using the crane truck of the City’s Department of General Services.
The truck driver, may have lost control of his vehicle because he was running at high speed when he made the turn at 3:50 p.m.
The container separated from the van, and hit the lamppost on the center island and another container van in the opposite lane. The lamppost fell and hit Robert Borlasa, who was waiting for traffic signal to turn green.
Borlasa was rushed to the Mandae City District Hospital, where he died. Potayre was brought to the Mandaue City Police Office-Traffic Management Unit and was detained pending the filing of charges against him
