Suspected Killer Threatens Guards With Gun And Flees Jail

A suspected killer is on the run after he bust out of a high-security jail by threatening guards with a gun.

CCTV security footage shows Amel Sejfovic fleeing from the jail in Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Four prison workers and seven other members of staff have been arrested on suspicion of helping him carry out the dramatic prison break.

Sejfovic is seen holding two prison guards at gunpoint as he marches them to a sliding security vehicle gate used by prison vans.

It is unclear how Sejfovic got the gun, although one of the guards is seen patting his belt as if searching for a missing weapon.

The same guard is later seen face down on the floor as the prisoner stands over him.

When Sejfovic cannot open the security gate, the killer fires furiously at an office door, apparently trying to get access to an override switch.

Then he orders the terrified guard to open the gate, which he does, and the prisoner flees on to the street from the Sarajevo Correctional Facility.

In earlier footage, burly body-builder Sejfovic is seen to have a casual, friendly relationship with the prison guards.

He is shown laughing and joking as he sits down with them while they are apparently enjoying a break.

One of the guards even has the same samurai-style haircut.

The accused killer has been on the run for nearly a month although footage of the breakout has just emerged in local media.

Sejfovic had been in jail awaiting trial accused of killing a cyclist in crossfire during a violent bank robbery in 2015.

Prosecutors in Sarajevo Canton say he had been formally charged with murder, attempted murder, and robbery.

During the hold-up Sejfovic and three accomplices battered staff and customers before fleeing with cash equivalent to nearly £135,000.
