Masked thugs threatened staff with a crowbar in a terrifying raid on a Post Office.
The two would-be robbers burst into the shop in Salford and tried to get inside the locked cashier's office, where a member of staff was inside.
After failing to force their way in, they threatened a second worker with a crowbar.
But after several failed attempts to gain entry to the office, the duo fled empty-handed in a silver Vauxhall Omega estate.
The vehicle was later recovered after being set on fire.
Police have released CCTV footage of the incident on August 16, are appealing for information.
Detective constable Danielle McCaffert said: “No-one should be put through such a terrifying ordeal, particularly in their place of work.
“Thankfully the two members of staff were not injured and I commend their bravery during what would have been a horrifying experience.
“These men also burnt their escape car in an attempt to destroy evidence and this act could have also led to serious consequences.
“I appreciate this happened almost two months ago but if you remember seeing anything in the area at the time of the robbery, or have any information about it that could help our investigation then please get in touch.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
