"The View" host Sunny Hostin said Tuesday that she didn't think even the killing of "fellow Republicans" in Las Vegas would spur gun control action from the GOP if they were unaffected by the 2012 massacre in Newtown, Conn.
The show spent its first two blocks focusing on Sunday night's Las Vegas massacre, where 59 people and more than 500 were injured by a gunman firing from his Mandalay Bay hotel room on people attending a country music concert.
"I really believe that if there are certain politicians that—the wake-up call didn't come when 20 six-year-olds were murdered—I can't imagine that this shooting of, perhaps, fellow Republicans—" Hostin said.
She paused awkwardly after mentioning "fellow Republicans" before continuing.
"Um, country music lovers," she said. "Democrats."
Whoopi Goldberg cut over and said, "People, Americans. Just Americans."
"I don't think that it's going to change anything," Hostin said.
Sara Haines then revealed her father was a gun owner and said people could get onboard with "limited magazines."
"How about if you have more than three guns, somebody says hey, a flag is raised," Goldberg suggested.
Hostin's stereotype of country music fans being Republicans mirrored CNN reporter Jeff Zeleny on Monday when he remarked a lot of the country music fans at the concert were "likely Trump supporters" before adding the wide swath of victims "is hitting the tapestry of all Americans."
