This is the horrifying moment a cyclist hurtles through the air after being hit by a car from behind.
Matt Atherton, 38, was cycling on Fullarton Road at Airport West in Melbourne's north-west about 5.30pm on September 19 when he was hit by the car.
The impact threw the father-of-two into the air causing him to suffer a broken shoulder blade and sustain serious injuries to his face and knee.
Mr Atherton underwent knee surgery and required 20 stitches in his face, Nine News reported.
