A dad, high on drugs, held a knife to his daughter's throat during a horrifically tense stand off with police.
The child's mother can be heard screaming in the background of the footage as she begs the father to let her go.
The 28-year-old man, identified only by his first name Gerardo, is also distressed and shouts back at the police as they point their guns at him.
A policeman is seen in the footage aiming his gun at Gerardo and shouting: "Let her go, let her go!"
Eyewitnesses said that at one point he was holding a knife to the little girl's neck.
The incident took place in Aguascalientes, part of the Bajio region, which is regarded as being the safest and most prosperous part of Mexico.
