A high school teacher has been filmed threatening to 'put a bullet' in a teenage student's brain.
Physics teacher Paul Hagan was recorded by another student making the shocking remarks to the 17-year-old boy in his 11th grade class at Rockdale Career Academy in Conyers, Georgia, on November 3.
The boy's disgusted mother April Carr shared the video on Facebook to try to have the 60-year-old teacher fired.
In the video, Hagan is heard telling the boy, who laughed as he tried to give him into trouble: 'That’s how people like you get shot. I got a bet.
'I bet by the time you’re 21 somebody’s going to put a bullet in your head. OK. And it might be me the one who does it.'
Earlier, he said: 'You screw with me you’re going to be in big a** trouble. Don’t smile at me, man.'
Rockdale Public Schools said it was investigating the footage.
Hagan has been placed on administrative leave in the meantime.
It is not clear how the teenager was misbehaving beforehand.
The footage sparked outrage among the community and has been viewed more than 25,000 times on Facebook.
'As an educator myself...I must say that this teacher was totally out of line! He needs to be removed from the classroom immediately!' said one critic.
Many defended the teacher's comments and said while he may have gone 'overboard', the student was most likely misbehaving to an extent which warranted his reaction.
Carr shot them down, saying there was no excuse for his response.
'All my son did was laugh....we can't continue to make excuses for people's actions where there is no excuse.
'We all have days or people at our jobs [when] we are on the verge of taking us out of character but we make a choice to remain calm and not threaten anyone's life,' she said.
She added said she was 'outraged' by the footage and said other students told her her son had just been laughing.
Cindy Ball, a representative for the school district, told DailyMail.com: 'Mr. Hagan is on administrative leave while the matter is being investigated.'
