Man's 'Romantic' Gesture To Girlfriend Goes Very Wrong

A boyfriend's attempt to impress his girlfriend backfired spectacularly - when he ended up being handed a driving ban and a fine in court.



Philip Marshall, 46, from Greater Manchester, thought it would be a good idea to clear up his partner's new home while she was away as a surprise.



But it all went wrong for him when he used her car without a driving licence, and left rubbish on a pavement, the Manchester Evening News reports.



His actions were caught on a local business’s CCTV camera.



It meant council officials came knocking at the door of his girlfriend - who didn't know he used her car - forcing him to confess.



A court heard the pair are no longer together.
