Stunning underwater footage shows a diver in the wreckage of a World War Two ship being attacked by a shark, which manages to snatch his weapon.
Captain Matt Wirt was spearfishing with friend John Christopher at the bottom of the ocean in North Carolina when the shocking drama unfolded.
They were in the wreckage of SS Papoose, which was sunk by a German torpedo in 1942, when a sand tiger shark became aggressive.
The giant fish are usually docile, but the terrifying ordeal shows the shark stealing the 42-year-old's fish and spear, leaving him defensive.
He said: “Diving with sand tiger sharks is usually uneventful. They are large powerful and intimidating but are usually docile.
