Courageous shopkeeper fights off knife-wielding masked robber trying to jump over the counter in dramatic CCTV

A shopkeeper fought off a knife-wielding robber who had burst into a convenience store and demanded money.



Footage from the security camera inside the shop shows the masked man clad in a black tracksuit attempting to climb over the counter and threatening the worker.



The footage shows the two skirmishing over the counter before the robber decides to flee from the shop.



The part-time shopkeeper, named locally as Jean-Pierre Palmer, was stocking up a lottery ticket dispenser shortly after opening the store.



9News reported that he fought off the attacker by using his hands to fend off the blows, and slapping the knife out of the robber's grasp.



Because of Mr Palmer's bravery, the would-be thief was sent packing empty-handed from the store near Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia,.
