MSNBC left-wing commentator Chris Matthews admitted on Friday that the GOP tax plan will help Americans who are living paycheck-to-paycheck, by giving them a break on their income.
Discussing Trump’s base of support with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, Matthews said that a large portion of Trump supporters who backed the president in 2016 were not hardliners. But the GOP tax plan could keep them with the president, Matthews predicted.
“[Regular people] are going to be thrilled with this tax cut,” he said. “They’ll get something [in the tax bill]. That’s how people survive. They go from paycheck-to-paycheck, and they get some kind of break.”
The host added that it would help people “be OK” in America.
However, Matthews referred to the plan as a “scheme” that would cut more for people at the top, returning to his Democratic talking points.
