Yemen's former president has been killed by Iran-aligned rebels in dramatic new twist to a violent civil war which has already claimed thousands of lives.
Footage released by Yemen's Houthi militia purportedly shows Ali Abdullah Saleh's body with a deep wound in the side of his head following what rebels claimed was an RPG and gun attack.
The body is clad in grey clothes and is carried on a red blanket in an undisclosed location in Yemen.
Officials from Slaeh's General People's Congress party said he was killed south of the capital Sanaa, along with the assistant secretary-general of the GPC, Yasser al-Awadi, amid heavy fighting.
Sources in the Houthi group said fighters stopped his armoured vehicle with an RPG rocket and then shot him dead, Reuters reported.
Humanitarian groups have called for a ceasefire as thousands of civilians are trapped by fighting in the capital.
