Driver filmed punching cyclist on ground but police handling of road rage incident slammed by Olympian Chris Boardman

A cyclist was punched in the head by a motorist who he claims knocked him off his bike after the pair got into an argument over road usage.



The rider, known online as Wolf Simpson, posted helmet cam footage of the moment he claims the driver 'played chicken' with him in the middle of the road before turning his car around and following him through an industrial estate.



He claims the driver told him he should be riding on the path, instead of the road - before turning his car wheel into his bike, causing him to fall off.



Incredibly, the driver then gets out of his vehicle and punches the cyclist in the head several times, raining blows down on his helmet.



Police handling of the row was criticised by Olympic cyclist Chris Boardman after the driver was only given a community penalty despite admitting assault.



The incident occurred on Newcomen Way in Colchester on October 14. and the footage has recently been posted on YouTube by Mr Simpson.
