A terrifying video has captured what appears to be a heroic rescue on a balcony about to be engulfed by flames as a fire rages through a Manchester apartment block.
The fire broke out on the ninth floor of a 12 storey building in the city's Northern Quarter this evening.
Incredible video footage taken by a witness on the ground seems to show a man desperately breaking down the partition between two neighbouring balconies as the blaze rips through the property.
He is seen banging on the wall several times before it starts to give way.
