A contestant on “Jeopardy!” lost thousands of dollars over his pronunciation of the word “gangsta.”
During a New Year’s Day broadcast of the long-running game show, contestant Nick Spicher selected the $1,600 clue in the “Music & Literature Before & After" category.
Host Alex Trebek gave the answer, “A song by Coolio from ‘Dangerous Minds’ goes back in time to become a 1667 John Milton classic,” a reference to the book “Paradise Lost” and the song “Gangsta’s Paradise.”
Spicher responded with, “Gangster’s Paradise Lost,” and was awarded the $1,600.
