Mum throws baby from fourth floor window in desperate bid to save her as blaze rips through building

A desperate mum threw her baby out of a fourth floor window as a blaze ripped through their home in a frantic bid to save her.



The tiny tot was wrapped in a blanket as she was dropped as the apartment filled with smoke .



Despite being scared the baby would be seriously hurt in the fall her neighbours pleaded for her to let the youngster fall.



The mum was fearful the baby would hit one of the cars parked next to the building or land on the pavement.



But as the flames got nearer she decided she had no choice but to throw the little one out of the window.



A video shows how the mum dropped the baby from the open window, high above the street.



The little girl can be seen hurtling through the air, a white baby blanket billowing in the breeze.



The woman's neighbours were waiting to catch the tot, with a large grey blanket ready to break her fall.



More than a dozen people can be seen working together, pulling the blanket taut to absorb the impact of her fall.



The little girl, whose name is not known, can be seen landing safely on the blanket.



She was then taken to a nearby hospital where doctors checked her for any sign of injury.



Fire fighters fought their way into the burning building and eventually reached the mother.



She was taken to hospital where she was reunited with her little girl following their miraculous escape.



It is thought that both mother and daughter are in good health following their traumatic ordeal.



An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire, which is believed to have been started by an electrical fault.
