A shocking video has emerged which shows the terrifying moment a thief follows an 80-year-old woman into her home and ruthlessly tries to mug her.
CCTV video, released by the New York Police Department, shows the woman entering an apartment building on Manhattan's Upper East Side on Tuesday night when a man suddenly lurches at her from behind and grabs at her handbag.
The thief yanks mercilessly at the woman's bag, but she holds on tenaciously.
As the elderly lady falls to the ground she screams, but the thief still tugs at her and only let go when a neighbour heard the commotion and rushed to the woman's aid, NBC New York reports.
