Shocking footage shows suspected thieves drive like maniacs while trying to 'light a joint' during a terrifying police chase that raced through Liverpool's streets.
The suspects filmed themselves as they tore through red lights and appeared to career the wrong way down roads in their desperate attempt to evade capture.
And when they noticed a police helicopter above them, they tried to go to ground, searching for tunnels to avoid the chopper noisily bearing down on them from the sky.
The footage , circulated on Facebook and Whatsapp and Youtube, appears to have been taken from inside a BMW being chased by Merseyside Police and it has sparked outrage from worried viewers, the Liverpool Echo reports.
In the video, the suspects can be heard discussing what route to take to evade capture.
