Explosion in skies over Leicester prompt residents to call 999 about 'plane on fire'

A plane careering through the sky with flames shooting out its wings sparked widespread panic as scores of people feared it was falling from the sky.



Several 999 calls were made last night following the sightings in Leicestershire as people feared the plane could be in serious trouble.



Footage shows the aircraft flying near homes in Husbands Bosworth shortly before 6pm.



As it soars at hundreds of feet above the ground two huge fire balls blast massive flames out behind them.



In the clip and man and woman can be heard discussing what the flying fireball could be, with one asking: "Is that on fire?" and the other pondering: "I wonder if it's some kind of airship?"
