Dramatic footage shows a woman being hauled out of a freezing cold river by emergency services in Liverpool.
Rescuers swooped down to the River Mersey at Pier Head following reports that a person was stranded out in the water on Monday.
Police , firefighters and ambulance workers all rushed to the woman's aid at the city waterfront.
Video footage shows the woman, said to be in her 40s or 50s, being dragged on board a sea rescue dinghy, still apparently conscious and breathing.
A man had started preparing to jump into the Mersey to save her, but he was told, “You’re not going in there, it’s too cold!” the Liverpool Echo reports.
A lifebuoy was flung from the dock to help her, and a coastguard or fire service search and rescue boat extended an oar towards the woman.
