Shocking video reveals the moment cops carried a 91-year-old woman through a burning building before allegedly dumping her in the smoke-clogged hall.
Ethel Davis died of smoke inhalation in hospital the day after a fire broke out at her apartment building in Queens, New York, on January 12.
Video shows Sergeant Timothy Brovakos of the NYPD carry Ms Davis through the smoke-filled corridor but she was allegedly abandoned moments later when Brovakos started struggling with the smoke and had to be helped to safety by his colleagues.
The great-great-grandmother is believed to have been left alone in the hall for at least five minutes before firefighters noticed her slumped against the wall and lifted her away from the smoke - but she died the following day in hospital.
The fire is believed to have been started when a halogen lamp tipped over in an apartment on the 11th floor - the floor below where Ms Davis lived.
