BENTON, KY — A local mother has been charged after a video surfaced of a fight between her daughter and another girl.
In a complaint warrant filed Thursday in Marshall County District Court, Benton, Kentucky, police say Angela Litchfield encouraged her 15-year-old daughter to beat up another 15-year-old girl at Benton City Park on Feb. 26.
Witnesses recorded video the fight on their cell phones. Assistant Marshall County Attorney Jason Darnall says the 57-second clip is now circulating among students at Marshall County High School.
In the video, you can hear Litchfield yelling out to her daughter: “Don’t stop. Don’t let her go.”
As the fighting continues, Litchfield is caught on camera saying, “Bite her back,” and “—- her up,” and “daddy’s gonna’ be proud of ya’.”
Toward the end of the video, you can see Litchfield’s daughter standing over the other girl while holding a chunk of the girl’s ponytail. At this point, Litchfield says, “[Daughter’s name] ain’t scared of no —–.”
Litchfield is charged with third degree unlawful transaction with a minor, which is a misdemeanor. She was arrested Wednesday night and then released on a $2,500 bond. Her arraignment is scheduled for March 21. If she’s found guilty, Litchfield could face up to a year in jail, a $500 fine, or both.
Benton police say they believe the teenage girls planned the fight ahead of time.
