It’s been spotted around 30 times since 2015, and now Nasa has finally solved the mystery of ‘Steve.’
Steve is a mysterious purple light in the sky that Nasa has been tracking over the last few years using both ground cameras and satellites.
But despite have an ordinary name, Nasa discovered that Steve may be an incredible puzzle piece in understanding how Earth's magnetic fields function and interact with charged particles in space.
Liz MacDonald, the NASA scientist leading the project, said: “This is a light display that we can observe over thousands of kilometres from the ground.
