A 112-year-old dad-of-five has been officially recognised as the oldest man in the world.
Masazo Nonaka, from Japan, was born on 25 July 1905 – over a year before the Wright Brothers celebrated the first power-driven flight and just months before Einstein published his special theory of relativity.
On April 10, he was awarded the title of 'Oldest person living (male)' by the Guinness World Records in his hometown of Hokkaido.
Mr Nonaka, exactly 112-years-and-259 days-old when awarded with the iconic record, took the title after Francisco Nuñez Olivera, from Spain, who died in February aged 113.
He has seven brothers and one sister who live nearby and five children with wife Hatsuno, who he married in 1931.
