The mother of a baby girl found smothered in dirt and bitten by ants is behind bars for cruelly dumping the newborn in a flower bed - because "her boyfriend didn't know she was pregnant".
The hours-old baby was discovered by two passersby - Albert Peterson and John Baldwin - who thought they could hear a cat meowing in a nearby bush.
But it turned out to be the newborn, who the men filmed as they discovered her lying in the flowerbed in Houston, Texas , covered with insects in August last year.
“Bro, that’s crazy. Somebody left their baby out here,” John said in the recording.
“You gotta call 911, bro.”
Police were called and when they arrived, followed a trail of blood back to a nearby apartment.
