Pro-Trump social-media stars Diamond and Silk suggested Friday that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo should be deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Their tongue-in-cheek taunt came a week after Cuomo, who favors strong protections for immigrants regardless of their status, called himself "undocumented," even though he was born and raised in New York, because "unless you are a Navajo or an Apache or a Comanche or a Native American you, too, are an immigrant."
Cuomo also said: "You know what they called Italian-Americans back in the day? They called them wops. You know what wop stood for? Without papers. I'm undocumented. You want to deport an undocumented person, start with me, because I'm an undocumented person."
Those statements prompted Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson, two conservative sisters from North Carolina better known to their fans as Diamond and Silk, to float the idea that Cuomo be thrown out of the country.
"Well, if he is undocumented, maybe ICE should go pay him a visit. Go ahead and deport him," Diamond said during an appearance with her sister on Fox News' "Fox & Friends."
"The fact that he lied and he take and try to use this incite some kind of rage or outrage is just unreal to us. When you come in this country you must be legal."
"That's right," Silk echoed.
Diamond said if Cuomo "really cared about illegal aliens" he would tell them that they must have legal status before entering the United States.
"Keep in mind that sanctuaries are for birds. Catch and release are for fish. When you come to this country, come here the right way," Silk added.
