A married couple was arrested after the body of a 5-year-old girl was found in a Sacramento storage unit, officials said Friday.
Tyler Anderson, 23, was arrested Wednesday and booked into Sacramento County Jail, Reno police said. Averyauna Anderson, 23, was arrested Wednesday in Reno and booked into Washoe County Jail.
Tyler Anderson agreed to be extradited to Reno during a Monday court appearance in Sacramento.
Investigators found that sometime within the last two weeks, the 5-year-old girl died inside Tyler and Averyauna’s Reno apartment, Reno police said. According to police, the 5-year-old was Tyler Anderson’s daughter.
Within days of the girl’s death, the couple rented a vehicle and drove the child’s body from Reno to a Sacramento U-haul facility, police said.
Late Tuesday night, Sacramento officers were called to the storage facility in the 1800 block of Glenrose Avenue, where they found the girl’s body.
Sacramento investigators found the storage unit belonged to the Reno couple and began a joint investigation with the Reno Police Department.
The girl’s cause of death is unknown. However, Reno police said, “investigators determined the child had been severely neglected prior to her death.”
