A light plane has clipped a home before crashing in the street, leaving the pilot dead.
The plane burst into flames in the middle of the road after hitting a house and power lines.
Emergency services were called to the suburban street in Mordiollac, in Melbourne's south-east, shortly after 5pm.
A 50-year-old man, who is yet to be formally identified and the sole occupant, was located deceased in the aircraft.
Australian Transport and Safety Bureau (ATSB) has confirmed the aircraft in question was a single-engine Cessna 172.
