Terrifying moment heavy school gate collapses on children

This is the terrifying moment a heavy iron gate collapses on a group of children in a school.



Two children were injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors said though one of them had suffered a minor fracture in the ankle, both the boys were recovering well.



The incident occurred at the government-run Suman High School in Surat, Gujarat, India, on June 18.



A CCTV footage from the school camera shows a few children playing near the gate during a break.



As one of them tugs it gently, the heavy structure gives in and keels over. Though many children run to safety, two of them come under the falling gate.



A school official said there was no problem with the gate. “It came as a surprise. You can see a man climbing over the locked gate just before it crashed,” said the official.



A parent, Raviraj Patel, however, said the school was covering up. “Poor children study here and there is no pressure on the officials to ensure good facilities. They should probe the incident and ensure such mishaps do not happen in the future,” he said.
