Huge 'lava-berg' floats down gigantic river of lava from Kilauea Volcano

These gigantic gobs of lava form like a snowball when a fragmented of hot rock rolls along the surface of a flow of liquid rock.



Scientists call them ‘accretionary lava balls’ and they are relatively common sights whenever a huge flow of magma pours out of the earth.



After the eruption has ended, the huge balls are sometimes left behind to serve as a monument to the incredible power of volcanos.
