Shocking footage shows a near-miss shark attack in an incident that could almost be an outtake from Jaws.
Biologist Greg Skomal, from Massachusetts, US, was on a tagging trip and had a narrow escape when a shark he spotted appeared to go in for the kill.
Footage shows Greg standing on the extended bow of a research vessel as he looks down at the water in a bid to tag the prehistoric predators.
As he leans to get a closer look, a great white leaps out with its teeth on show.
The beast comes within inches of Greg’s legs, who shuffles back from the encounter, before crashing back into the sea.
