A policeman desperately held on to the front grill of a lorry after its driver refused to stop for inspection and drove off with him clinging to the front.
The officer can be seen raising his legs off the ground in order to avoid being sucked under the vehicle and run over.
The shocking footage was caught on camera in the east Chinese city of Shaoxing.
The suspect, identified only by his surname Wang, had been flagged down by officers.
The police later revealed they had spotted a suspect fake licence number on the lorry, and their suspicions appeared to be confirmed when Wang refused to pull over and drove through their blockade.
