Lyon Airport chase: Runaway car flies through air and crashes onto runway as cops give chase

This is the astonishing moment a runaway car flew through the air and crashed onto a runway at Lyon Airport - before cops gave chase.



Flights were grounded after the vehicle drove through the grounds of the French city's Saint Exupery airport, followed by emergency crews.



In footage shot by a witness, a damaged grey Mercedes can be seen driving through the airport enclosure followed by dozens of police cars.



It hits an embankment before the driver allegedly tries to flee on foot.



Shots were fired by police, according to local reports.
