Two police officers stripped off and jumped into the sea to save a drowning kangaroo's life in front of stunned onlookers.
Sergeants Kirby Tonkin and Christopher Russo dragged the unconscious animal out of the water and performed chest compressions to revive it.
Panicked residents called police after seeing the distressed kangaroo struggling in the waters of Safety Beach at Mornington Pensinsula, south of Melbourne.
By the time police arrived, the exhausted animal was lying down on the sand.
But, when it saw the cops approaching, it bounded back into the ocean, forcing the men to jump in after him.
