A 'once-in-a-lifetime' moment was witnessed above a castle as a meteor exploded and disintegrated into the night sky.
The stunning images were caught on camera at Clun Castle, Shropshire, during an Orionid meteor shower on October 20.
Orionid meteors occur every autumn when the Earth is passing through the stream of debris left by Halley’s Comet.
The video was captured by landscape astro-photographer Nick Jackson who had gone to the castle to shoot the 13th century building in front of the night sky.
He was hoping to make a 'star trial' but halfway through the shoot he saw the meteor fly across the sky.
