A US Navy plane was intercepted by a Russian fighter jet after it came close to the country's airspace.
But the manoeuvre has been slammed by the US for being unsafe, saying it put the American pilot and crew in danger.
Video footage from on board the American Navy plane shows the Russian SU-27 making a high-speed pass at a 'very, very close' distance.
A statement from the Navy read: "A US EP-3 Aries aircraft flying in international airspace over the Black Sea was intercepted by a Russian SU-27.
"This interaction was determined to be unsafe due to the SU-27 conducting a high speed pass directly in front of the mission aircraft, putting at risk the pilots and crew.
