A car completely flattened a traffic light before a man was caught on camera fleeing from the vehicle.
The man was chased on foot by police as the terrifying drama unfolded just before 3pm today in Dovecot, Liverpool.
In the dashcam footage, a dark-coloured vehicle appears to pass through a red light before smashing into a traffic light on the opposite side of the junction.
It then swerves out of control and a long-haired man wearing a pink robe leaves the driver's exit while being chased by police on foot.
Witnesses told the Liverpool Echo how police caught up with the man and tackled him to the floor.
Steve, 48, who lives near the scene, described hearing an almighty crash.
