A driver who led police on a fiery high-speed chase made a miraculously getaway by racing through closing boom gates at a railway crossing - leaving officers no choice but to wait until the train passed.
Incredible footage showed the white Landcruiser send sparks flying as it dragged a trailer with no wheels along a road in the Perth suburb of Maddington on Tuesday night.
An unmarked police car followed the vehicle as it approached the train line crossing, but the boom gates began to close and the driver made it under with centimetres to spare.
Officers were forced to wait for the train to pass and the gates to reopen, by which time the driver was gone.
