This dashcam footage shows a metal pipe being flipped up by a car before it is sent flying through a motorist’s windscreen where it smashes him in the face and causes his vehicle to veer out of control off the road.
The startling incident occurred on national road No. 19 near the village of Krasnik in Lublin Voivodeship in eastern Poland and was recorded by the dashboard camera of the victim.
In the video, cars can be seen making their way down the busy main road when the vehicle in front of the camera runs over some debris.
A piece of metal debris is then sent flying through the air towards the camera, smashing through the windscreen and leaving a gaping hole.
The car then slows down and begins veering off the tarmac, knocking over a road sign and dropping into a ditch.
The 46-year-old driver of the Skoda, a resident of Swidnik, was reportedly hospitalised with severe injuries as the metal pipe hit him in the face.
Policemen working on the scene found a dozen items of debris lying on the road, most likely coming from another vehicle, with preliminary reports suggesting the other vehicle was a lorry.
