A Davidson County Sheriff's Office corporal is facing charges after an incident with an inmate that was captured on video surveillance, according to officials with the department.
According to DCSO officials, Corp. Kenneth Traylor II turned himself in on Tuesday night and was booked on one count of misdemeanor assault. He has since left custody through a pre-trial release program.
The alleged incident occurred at the Maximum Correctional Facility on Jan. 25.
According to officials, Traylor, 47, was escorting inmate Darrel Mintlow, 25, through the facility when he swung his laundry bag at the corporal, hitting him in the head.
In reaction, Traylor can be seen taking the inmate to the floor, which DCSO officials later determined to be a use of excessive force.
