At least seven people were killed after a flash flood caused by a freak rainstorm hit the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen last night, local authorities said.
The victims were dredging workers who were swept away while they were cleaning drainage pipes in Luohu and Futian districts, the city's emergency management office said today, adding that four others remained missing.
Video footage of the heavy downpour shows civilians being rescued from a bus trapped on a flooded road. Other clips show stalled vehicles submerged in floodwater and firefighters rescuing drainage crew members.
