An American #bomb weighing 250kg (550lbs), which had been dropped during World War II, was detonated by specialists in the River Main, footage filmed in #Frankfurt on Sunday, April 14, shows.
Around 600 people were evacuated from the vicinity of the controlled explosion, which happened at a depth of around six meters (20ft), causing a surge of water to fly up from the river's surface.
Police and fire brigades were present at the scene and the evacuation order was lifted once the bomb was defused. The bomb was discovered by firefighters who took part in diving exercises in the river on Tuesday.
