A Syrian refugee 'waterboarded' in a playground attack has no where to take his GCSEs after his family relocated amidst far-right threats.
On October 25 last year an unnamed 16-year-old grabbed Jamal Hijazi round the neck on the field of Almondbury Community School in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
A video that would later go viral shows the teenage aggressor choking the 15-year-old, squirting a bottle of water in his face and saying: “Ya little bastard. I’ll drown ya.”
In the months after the attacker was interviewed and defended by far-right extremist Tommy Robinson, Jamal's father Jihad set up four CCTV cameras around the new family home and stayed up for days watching the feed, fearing that some of the threats they had received would be acted upon.
The 39-year-old would later move his family out of Huddersfield.
